PlayStation 4 priced at $399, Xbox One at $499

PS4 vs Wii U
Those who complained that the Wii U was expensive at $299 have a little surprise for them: Sony unveiled that its PlayStation 4 console will launch at $399 this Fall, while Microsoft’s Xbox One will retail at $499. The Wii U currently retails at $299 and $349.

This gives Nintendo a chance to play the price game this Fall, as they can, and should, lower the Wii U price in time for the holiday shopping season. At $299 for the Deluxe set, the Wii U would be $100 cheaper than the PS4, and $200 cheaper than the Xbox One.

Nintendo should also have a better games library this Fall, with Zelda Wind Waker HD, Mario Kart, and perhaps even a new 3D Mario game.

We’ve already heard that Wii U Basic sets are being discontinued at various retailers, as Nintendo admitted that releasing to SKUs was a mistake. This could pave way for a new Deluxe bundle at $299.

With the right marketing strategy and the right lineup of games and bundles, Nintendo can put itself in a great position to fend off the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One this Fall.
