Shovel Knight: Plague of Shadows finished, release date soon [VIDEO]

Shovel Knight was one of the best indie games released in 2014 for the Wii U and the Nintendo 3DS and it’s about to get a lot better. Yacht Club Games has confirmed that they’ve finally finished development on Plague of Shadows, the free DLC pack that will let players assume the role of Plague Knight in order to concoct the ultimate potion by stealing ingredients from his former comrades in the Order of No Quarter.

The gameplay is vastly different from the original game, as Shovel Knight was a more melee-based character with occasional magical abilities according to items you pick up. Plague Knight relies instead on his arsenal of potions and ability to double jump. Since he’s a villain, the town upgrade paths that you might be familiar with from Shovel Knight will no longer be available, so you’ll have to make new friends in order to boost your abilities before progressing.

The upcoming Challenge Mode being introduced in this DLC will be playable at PAX Prime this year and while Yacht Club Games doesn’t have a release date for the DLC just yet, expect it to come very soon.
