For those of you excited about the content of today’s Nintendo Direct, plenty of information about the upcoming Pikmin 3 game was released. Instead of one character, players will be commanding three characters, called Alph, Charlie, and Brittany. These aliens have crash landed on the planet after leaving to try and find a new food source. Once they discover the Pikmin, they begin using them to find food and bring it back to their spaceship. The food is extracted into juice, which you can use to fuel your days.
Each day is explorable from dawn until dusk and you can multi-task with each character, so you can give control of one group of Pikmin to one character and then perform tasks with all three. This helps speed up collection times so you can explore more. In addition, each day is replayable, so if you didn’t like how one day progressed, you can go back and do it again.
The GamePad is also an integral to play, as it acts as an overworld map and shows where you have explored and where you should go next. The pad is called the KopPad in the game and allows supreme control of your Pikmin. Other control methods include the Wii U Pro controller and Wii-remotes. You can even use your Wii-remote to play the game, while you use the GamePad as a monitor if you so choose. The game is set for an August 4th release date.
Iwata didn’t release any more details on the challenge and multiplayer modes, but we expect to see more of that at E3. Are you excited about these details? Let us know in the comments below!
