New Overcooked patch for Switch fixes 8-way movement bug

The Nintendo Switch is becoming home to a wide variety of couch co-op games that make the console ideal for family and friendly gatherings. Overcooked first debuted on the Switch back in July and since then it’s gotten a few fixes to iron out some issues. In September it got a patch to address framerate issues and now the developer has tweeted that a patch has been pushed live today to fix 8-way movement issues in the game.

If you’ve picked it up and you’ve noticed your character doesn’t control exactly like you’d expect and attributed it to the game’s movement system being janky, then you’ll be happy to know it should be a lot better now. I noticed when playing with a friend that it’s hard to pick up items when you’re diagonally facing and you waste precious seconds of your cook time fiddling with your character positioning.

It’s great to see the devs are on top of things, since Overcooked: Special Edition is one of the best local co-op games available on the Switch right now. I’ve had a blast with it playing with friends and that’s something I never thought I’d say after having worked in a commercial kitchen for years. Who knew video game cooking in tandem could be so fun?
