NPD recently shared its monthly video game sales rankings, where the PS4 was the best selling console last month. But that’s not the interesting part.
They also noted that the Nintendo Switch now officially has the highest install base in history after 1 year on the market in North America.
That means the Switch is off to a better start than any other console ever, including the PS2 and the Wii, the two best selling consoles ever.
The Switch has been doing so well it outsold its predecessor’s entire lifetime sales in less than a year.
NPD’s Mat Piscatella says it’s now likely that year 2 will be just as good for the Switch. And yesterday we reported that Nintendo is thinking about a hardware refresh with 8 GB of RAM.
