Nintendo’s new Super Smash Bros. ad shows off 8-player Smash

Nintendo has been embracing TV advertising more for Super Smash Bros. than it has any other game aside from Mario Kart 8, which is always nice to see. There were a disturbing lack of ads for Wii U games up until now, which means Nintendo hasn’t been reaching full sales potential. The newest commercial added to the fold showcases the upcoming 8-player Smash mode, in which 8 of your local friends can go head to head against one another on some of the larger stages in the game.

The commercial also does a good job of raising awareness for the GameCube controller, as many who have learned there’s a Super Smash Bros. game releasing on Wii U have said, “Yeah but what about the GameCube controller?” It’s compatible. You can Smash your friend’s face in with it and he won’t be able to blame it on an inferior controller if you have two. That’s worth the price itself just to cut out the whining!
