Nintendo will release a Super Famicom in Japan

The NES (Nintendo Entertainment System) is known in Japan as the “Famicom” (Family Computer). And since the company will be releasing the SNES Classic in the West, Japan will be getting the Super Famicom.

And not only that, some of the games will be different as well.

The SNES Classic features 21 games in both Japan and the Western versions of the console, but five of those games are different in Japan.

Gone are Earthbound, Kirby’s Dream Course, Street Fighter 2 Turbo, Super Castlevania 4, and Super Punch-Out!.

Instead, they have been replaced with: Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem, The Legend of Mystical Ninja, Panel de Pon, Super Soccer, Streeth Fighter 2: The New Challenges.

The SNES Classic and Super Famicom are launching this September for $80. Nintendo has said that they will make more SNES Classic consoles available after last year’s NES Classic proved to be immensely popular.
