Nintendo sending Wii U promotional materials to retailers

While the Wii U launch is still a few months away, Nintendo is already shipping promotional materials to retailers. Several stores have already received display materials in North America and Great Britain. So far it’s nothing more than display boxes meant to get some attention from gamers at the stores. The below image was spotted by a member of the NeoGAF forums at a local GameStop. It’s a series of boxes displaying some of the Wii U games, including Nintendo Land, Ninja Gaiden, and New Super Mario Bros U. As we get closer to launch, Nintendo will ramp up Wii U promotions and advertising, and the first place to start is always at retail where a lot of people buy their video games. Nintendo has said that the Wii U price and release date announcements will be unveiled next month in September. It’s likely that we’ll get a sense of which direction they’ll take in regards to promoting the Wii U — will it be something that appears to the core gamers, or something like the famous Wii TV-ads?
