Nintendo is hard at work on the new Zelda game for the Wii U (and they better be, after all those delays), and that includes The Legend of Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma.

In an interview with IGN, Aonuma revealed an interesting bit of news about the “open world” of Zelda for Wii U. According to Aonuma, the developers are taking in feedback from Zelda Skyward Sword’s open world for the new game.

“We actually had some feedback from Skyward Sword, where people were saying, ‘This is not exactly the Zelda game I was looking for, I was looking for a bigger open world.” said Aonuma, adding that they are now looking to satisfy fans of the series when it comes to open world gameplay.

“I’m hoping to put a surprise, or kind of a twist, on my view of an open world game. I hope that you’ll look forward to it.” said Aonuma, adding that “I always want to implement something new and surprising into every game.”

We’ll have to wait and see what other surprising elements Nintendo puts in the game. Zelda is slated for a 2016 release on the Wii U.
