Nintendo to release Wii games on Nvidia Shield in China

Nintendo and Nvidia have teamed up to release old Wii games in China on Nvidia’s Shield console. The games selection will be limited to Super Mario Galaxy, Zelda: Twilight Princess, and Punch Out for now.

Since it’s hard to enter the Chinese video game market (Nintendo is working to bring the Switch there), Nintendo is now taking a slightly different approach to reaching Chinese gamers with its popular brands.

The games will be offered in HD on the Nvidia Shield, and the companies have announced that more will be coming in the future.

Since game companies in China are required to partner up with a Chinese company, Nintendo and Nvidia have been joined by iQiyi, a big online video platform in China owned by Baidu, China’s Google.

This could mean that Nintendo might offer older games on Nvidia Shield devices here in the West, which would be a massive step for the company.
