Nintendo: SNES Mini pre-orders open later this month

Nintendo has announced that it will officially open up for SNES Classic pre-orders later this month. This comes after the company reportedly told Walmart to cancel all pre-orders.

Nintendo of America said that pre-orders would “be made available for pre-orders by various retailers late this month”, and added that they will ship “a significant amount of additional system” to meet pre-order demand.

Last year’s NES Classic was hopelessly under-supplied by Nintendo, leading to shortages during its entire production run (which was extended by several months to try and meet demand).

The SNES Classic (or SNES Mini) features 21 classic SNES games and comes with two controllers. The console launches in September and will retail for $80.
