Nintendo will not have a presence at PAX East this year

PAX East is a consumer industry event held in Boston every year. This year it’s taking place from April 11 to April 13 and Nintendo have confirmed that they will not be attending this year. That’s not so surprising, given that Nintendo usually likes to focus on E3 in June and PAX Prime, which takes place later in the year in Seattle. Nintendo of America sent the following statement to NWR concerning their absence:

Interacting directly with our fans and letting them play our games firsthand is a key component of our approach. That doesn’t include PAX East this year, but we will offer our fans a variety of opportunities to get their hands on Nintendo products in 2014. Keep an eye on our social media pages for more information about where we’ll be and what you can play.

Given the timing of PAX East and the current catalogue available, it’s not surprising to see why they’re skipping. Mario Kart 8 is the biggest title on the horizon with a confirmed date and it wouldn’t seem like much of an effort if Nintendo showed up with one game to demo and the same press demoes for Bayonetta 2. Hopefully we’ll have more news from Nintendo soon concerning their releases this year.
