Nintendo sells out of its Splatoon Wii U bundles in Japan

The Splatoon Wii U bundle helped boost Japanese Wii U sales greatly last week, and they’ve been selling so well that Nintendo has sold out of all available bundles.

The new Splatoon and Mario Kart 8 bundles released in Japan helped boost sales of the Wii U by more than 50% to 47,000 units. Last week Splatoon was the 4th best selling game in Japan, moving over 80,000 units, surpassing Super Mario Maker.

To date, Splatoon has sold over 1 million units in Japan alone. Worldwide, the game has sold over 2.5 million units, making it one of the best-selling Wii U games ever.
