Nintendo responds to Wii U hacker claims

Wii U

Yesterday we told you that hacker group WiiKey claims to have completely hacked the Wii U and its several layers of security designed to protect the console. Nintendo of America have responded to the claims through Kotaku, stating they are aware of the claims the group have been making.

“Nintendo is aware that a hacking group claims to have compromised Wii U security. However, we have no reports of illegal Wii U games nor unauthorized applications playable on the system while in Wii U mode. Nintendo continuously monitors all threats to its products’ security and will use technology and will take the necessary legal steps to prevent the facilitation of piracy.”

Nintendo is very likely monitoring the situation very closely, as they want to do everything they can to prevent these hacks from becoming viable enough to be sold, which is exactly what WiiKey will be doing if it’s something Nintendo can’t block properly.
