Nintendo’s Q3 financials shows Wii U sales at 2.41m for 9 months

White and black Wii U

Today Nintendo published its Q3 financial results for the 2013-14 fiscal year. Not surprisingly, the Kyoto company posted a profit of 10,195 million yen ($99 million), though that profit is a 30% decrease from the year previous. Despite remaining in the black for the year during this quarter, the company is predicting significantly decreased sales due to seasonal factors. With the holidays over, the Wii U has much less of a chance to meet its expected sales goals.

According to the report, Wii U hardware sales for this nine month period between April 2013 to December 2013 only equaled 2.41 million units. That puts the Wii U as having sold 5.86 million units during its entire lifetime. That’s a little more than half of the originally predicted forecast of 9 million for the year, though software sales were up, sitting at 15.96 million units during the financial year so far.
