Nintendo: Metroid definitely coming to Wii U

Metroid Wii U
It’s no surprise, but we still had to hear Nintendo say it: the Metroid franchise — one of Nintendo’s most beloved IPs — will eventually find its way to the Wii U, according to Nintendo producer Katsuya Eguchi. He said in an interview with game blog Kotaku:

“I can’t give you any details now, but I’m sure there will be a new Metroid release making use of the new controller, not just to control Samus and her ship but also to give the player a new source of information.”

Eguchi didn’t mention whether Nintendo was already working on a Metroid game for the Wii U, or if they’re just talking about it. Nintendo has already shown their other franchises on the Wii U, including Super Mario and The Legend of Zelda, so it’s of no surprise that the company will be bringing Metroid to the console. When, how, and in what form, remains to be seen.
