This might come as a surprise to many: Nintendo has openly stated that they are doing research and development on a new hardware and that we “might see the new system sometime in the future”.
This comes from Nintendo’s Shinya Takahashi, who attended the BAFTA awards and gave a brief interview with BBC.
“Nintendo constantly works on hardware, so we have been doing research and development. You may see the new system sometime in the future”, he told BBC.
Now it’s obvious that Nintendo would be in the early stages of designing their next console, it often takes years to create a new console. But the company has never been this open about working on future systems.
