Nintendo Switch’s first app is Niconico

One of the main problems many had with the Nintendo Switch upon its release last March was its lack of apps. Unlike other platforms, the Nintendo Switch doesn’t currently have any apps that allow you to consume media, like YouTube, Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Video, etc. However, today, we learned that the Switch will be getting its first app, Niconico, this Thursday in Japan.

Niconico is essentially YouTube for Japan. With the app, you can watch videos from your Nintendo Switch from any of the console’s modes (docked or un-docked).

As the app is a Japanese exclusive, we’re still waiting on the Switch to get its first app in the US and other overseas markets.
