According to a recent report from The Wall Street Journal, Netflix is allegedly developing a live-action series based on the lore from The Legend of Zelda series. Netflix is currently seeking writers for the project, which it is describing as a “Game of Thrones” for a more family-oriented audience. Currently Netflix describes the story as “based on a boy named Link who must rescue a princess named Zelda and save a fantasy world called Hyrule.” That’s pretty basically the plot of the series, though which timeline the series will take is anyone’s guess.
According to the source article, Netflix is working closely with Nintendo on the production of the series, but Nintendo refuses to comment on the partnership. The project is in its very early stages and there’s no guarantee it’ll go into production. Both Netflix and Nintendo have refused to comment on the report, with the Nintendo spokesperson stating that Nintendo refuses to comment on rumors and speculation.
