It was about 3 months ago at this year’s Google I/O that we first heard of Netflix coming to Chromebooks and although it was a long time coming, Chromebook users can now finally stream their favorite movies and shows with the latest version of Chrome OS.
The announcement was made via Google+ post and listed off support for the Samsung Series 5 and Acer AC700 Chromebooks. Those that are still using CR-48’s can also get in on the Netflix fun, but streaming will be limited to standard definition/low res. Netflix can also be viewed in full screen mode by clicking on the “full screen” button found next to the window switcher button on your Chromebook.

With the latest version of Chrome OS, Netflix members can instantly stream thousands of films and TV episodes directly from the Netflix website. Netflix is supported on the Samsung Series 5 and Acer AC700 Chromebooks. CR-48 Chromies can get in on the fun too, streaming their favorite movies and shows in low-res straight from Netflix.
If you’d like to watch a video in full screen mode, you can take advantage of the “full screen” button located next to the window switcher button on your Chromebook.

The Samsung Series 5, Acer AC700 and CR-48 Chromebooks can access Netflix, according to a Google Plus post by Chrome OS Community Manager Melissa Daniels.
Support for sites like Netflix and Hulu was a feature that was noticeably missing when Chromebooks were first released, due to their reliance on third party browser plugins.
Netflix should now should work on Chromebooks running the latest version of Chrome OS. Instructions on upgrading and running Netflix can be found here.
