First look at Mr. Shifty patch shows promising results

Last week, we brought you a lot of Mr. Shifty coverage, including some not-so-good news about the frame rate being really bad during later levels. That resulted in Mr. Shifty developer Team Shifty and publisher tinyBuild Games letting us know that a patch was being worked on. Today, tinyBuild uploaded early footage of that patch in action and boy does it look good.

Before we show you the patch, we encourage you to watch our previous video covering the bad frame rate. Doing so will make the change much more apparent and dramatic.

Now here’s the patch in action. As you can see, the publisher re-traced some of the locations we included in our original video, showing that now the game looks like it runs without so much as a stutter.

In the video’s description, tinyBuild notes that if you’re receiving frame rate problems, to perform a hard reset of your Nintendo Switch (essentially, turn it all the way off, then turn it back on). We haven’t tried that yet but we’ll update this article if doing so fixes anything.

If you don’t know how to turn off your Switch, we made a guide to help you out with that.
