Mario Kart 8 Deluxe uses 260 MB of data per hour

With the Nintendo Switch being both a handheld and traditional, home console, you’re not exactly discouraged from playing online when you’re out and about. Tethering a phone’s data connection to the Switch has proven to be a good means of getting in some quick, play sessions when not near a WiFi connection. Now that we’re only a day away from Mario Kart 8 Deluxe’s launch, we know just how much data the game uses per hour.

A new video from GameXplain shows that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe uses about 130 MB of data for every 30 minutes. This means that if you’re playing for an hour at a time, you’ll burn through around 260 MB. That’s not that bad considering the resurgence of unlimited plans from various carriers. Even without an unlimited plan, 260 MB is still pretty reasonable for an hour of Mario Kart fun.

GameXplain also states that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe runs perfectly fine while you’re tethering, at least on the T-Mobile network. Of course, with a racing game like this, you’ll want the best signal possible or you might experience instances of lag.
