Indie hit Minecraft is on every platform conceivable, which means it was only a matter of time before it was released on the Switch. And now we know when: Minecraft will be released on the Switch on May 11th.
It will also get a physical retail release, but that will come at a later time. For now, it’s digital only on the Switch eShop on May 11th.
Minecraft on Switch will feature the Super Mario Mash-Up Pack that was released on the Wii U as DLC. It will also feature support for multiplayer, with 4-player local multiplayer and 8-players online.
In addition to the regular, old-school Minecraft, the Switch will also get Minecraft: Story Mode – The Complete Adventure on June 27th.
The game was previously released on the Wii U and became by far the most successful indie game on the Wii U eShop.
