Michael Pachter praises amiibo efforts, says Nintendo should continue making hardware

Oh boy. We know how you feel about Michael Pachter around here, but he has some interesting things to say about Nintendo now that their quarterly financials have been made available. Pachter says he was surprised by the performance of the amiibo in the market, but describes them as “more collector value than useful, as they’re not integrated particularly well.”

Aside from his comments about the amiibo, he mentions Wii U’s sales of 470k as being terrible, which is true when compared to the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4. He also mentions that Nintendo is continuing to be destroyed by smartphones and the mobile market, but when asked if Nintendo should get out of the hardware market, Pachter says he believes Nintendo can keep making hardware as long as it’s profitable.
