Nintendo is gearing up for the release of Mario Party 10 on the Wii U next month, and the game has some pretty high standards to meet: Mario Party is one of Nintendo’s best selling series. In fact, Nintendo has revealed that the series has sold almost 40 million units to date (39.6 million as of December 2014, to be precise).

The first Mario party was released in 1998 on the legendary Nintendo 64 (that’s right, we’re elevating the N64 to “Legendary” status), and since then, 9 games in the main series have been released, with Mario Party 10 being the tenth, of course. In addition, several Mario Party games have been released on Nintendo’s mobile platforms, including the GameBoy Advance, DS, and 3DS.

We recently reported that Mario Party 10 will support all Amiibos, something Amiibo owners should be happy to hear (especially those who have invested in large Amiibo collections).

Mario Party 10 is one of the most anticipated Wii U games of 2015, second only to the upcoming Zelda game, of course.
