Switch lasts around 3 hours while playing Mario Kart 8

Journalists have begun receiving their copies of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for the Nintendo Switch. With the game launching next week, they’ve put the Switch’s battery to the test with Nintendo’s latest AAA exclusive.

According to Game Rant with the Switch’s screen brightness at 30%, the battery lasts around 3 hours 9 minutes and 20 seconds before the device dies. For comparison, that’s about the same amount of time you’d have to play The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild before the battery died.

Might you need an external battery for this one? Well, we say yes, at least more so than with Zelda. Because Mario Kart supports online and local multiplayer, you’re certainly more incentivized to play it for longer periods of time than you would be with Zelda. Couple in the fact that anyone around you can join in using an individual Joy-Con and you’re bound to have extended play sessions.
