2014 was a pretty remarkable year for Nintendo. We won’t get financial information for the entire year until closer to tax season, but suffice it to say, Nintendo did a bang up job releasing games that its fans want to play. Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros. were both successes, but Nintendo has been pushing the envelope some as well.

Hyrule Warriors was born out of a partnership with Koei Tecmo to see the gameplay of Dynasty Warriors merged with the lore and characters of The Legend of Zelda series. The game is doing astoundingly well among Nintendo fans, so much so that it’s no small wonder Nintendo continues to produce DLC for the title.

With that said, Nintendo recently announced another partnership with Gung Ho Entertainment, the creators of Puzzle & Dragons. Puzzle & Dragons is an extremely popular mobile game in Japan and the partnership will result in a new Puzzle & Dragons style game that features characters from the Super Mario universe. With these types of partnerships cementing Nintendo’s intentions to get into new markets and new genres, what sort of partnerships would you like to see in the future?

Both the GungHo and Koei Tecmo partnerships were done with Japanese developers. What if Nintendo partnered with a Western company to create a new game? It seems like Nintendo is already taking hints of what is popular in Western gaming and bringing it to their own franchises, as Aonuma has repeatedly stated that the next Zelda for Wii U will be more open world that we’ve ever seen in a Zelda game before.

With all of this in mind, are there any game companies or genres that you’d like to see partner with Nintendo to create a new mashup game? Let us know in the comments!
