Just 1% of FIFA 18 sales are on Nintendo Switch

FIFA 18 has launched on the Switch, and according to the first sales numbers out of UK, it didn’t account for many copies sold.

In fact, 97% of FIFA 18 copies so far have been sold on the PS4 and Xbox One, with 1% on the Switch, and 2% on the PS3 and Xbox 360.

Granted, the Switch has just launched the install base is far smaller than the PS4 and Xbox One, but we had expected it to account for a bit more than 1%.

The 1% only accounts for physical copies of the game, the Switch eShop numbers might be different.

We still don’t have the specific sales numbers for each platform, but FIFA 18 did debut as the number 1 best selling game in the UK.

What does this mean for FIFA 18 on the Switch and future EA games on the platform? It’s too early to tell. For one, the game just launched, and two (and more importantly), the Switch’s install base is quite small compared to the other platforms.

And finally, sports games have never really sold that well on Nintendo consoles. Unless they were made by Nintendo and have “Mario” in the title.

Either way, FIFA 18 on the Switch has gotten great reviews and reception from fans. If you’re into soccer/football, you should definitely check it out.
