Watch Jessica Chobot as Samus Aran in this fan-made Metroid short [VIDEO]

The Metroid series has been something of a red-headed step-child to Nintendo, we haven’t gotten a good game since the end of the Metroid Prime trilogy by Retro Studios and some argue that the series hasn’t been great since the Super Metroid era. Regardless of your feelings on the game series, there’s no denying that Metroid would be an amazing series to create a movie from, which is exactly what an independent film studio did.

Rainfall Films created the 12 minute short above starring Jessica Chobot and according to the short YouTube description, the studio wanted to capture the feeling of being alone in deep space.

The classic Nintendo franchise, Metroid, envisioned through the lens of 60s-70s science fiction cinema such as 2001, Alien, and Solaris: this was the concept for Rainfall’s most recent production. Instead of using a modern approach, a style was developed more in tune with the themes that inspired the first Metroid game in 1986: isolation, exploration, and the wonders of deep space.

We hope you enjoy our take on the adventures of Samus Aran.

I really enjoyed the short and hope Nintendo see the potential here instead of asking them to take it down. What do you think?
