Japanese weekly sales 2/3 – 2/9

wii-u-sales

Another week has gone by without substantial releases for the Wii U, so numbers continue to remain about the same. Square Enix released a new Dragon’s Quest title in Japan this week, which saw an impressive 443k sales within the first week, attesting to the popularity of the Dragon’s Quest series there. Another interesting thing to note on the Not Nintendo site is that the PS Vita version of Terraria was released in Japan and seems to be doing well in its first week.

Overall the Wii U appears to be holding its own with the PlayStation 3, which only managed to move 3k more units than the Wii U this week. Of course the Xbox 360 has fallen nearly off the map in Japan and neither the PlayStation 4 or the Xbox One are available in Japan just yet. We’re interested in seeing launch numbers for the PlayStation 4 when it launches in Japan in a few week’s time.
