Japanese sales charts – Wii U sees small gain among stiff competition

Wii U sales

Sales numbers for last week in Japan have been released and we’re surprised to see the Wii U enjoyed an uptake of around two thousand units or so. This week in Japan gamers were inundated with new titles, with eight of the top ten spots being new releases. The two stragglers in the top ten were released earlier and include Yokai Watch at number eight, and Dark Souls II at number ten.

Despite dominating the top of the chart with Mario Party: Island Tour, the Nintendo 3DS appears to be losing its stranglehold on Japan to Sony, as PS3/PSV/PS4 games make up the bulk of the top ten that used to be 3DS games. No new Wii U titles were released.
