Japanese report says Switch will cost 25,000 Yen, or $210

According to Japanese news outlet Nikkei, the Switch will cost 25,000 yen in the country. This translates to just over $210, which would be an awesome price for the new console.

But how likely is this? Nikkei is the most established business newspaper in Japan, they don’t just publish wild rumors, which leads us to believe that Nintendo might just launch the Switch at this price point.

An alternative would be that Nintendo suggested this price to retailers and that word got to Nikkei, but that Nintendo still hasn’t decided on the price.

Keep in mind that Nintendo has usually sells consoles at a bit cheaper price point in its home country — a 25,000 Yen price over there could mean a $250 price here in the US.

Last week, UK newspaper Metro reported that the Switch would cost 245 in the country, which translates to around $300.
