While the Wii U may have pushed 400,000 united in the US during the launch week, sales have slowed considerably and many people are calling the console a flop. Consumer interest may have slowed, but Nintendo president Satoru Iwata isn’t worries despite the Wii U missing sales predictions.
“At the end of the Christmas season, it wasn’t as though stores in the U.S. had no Wii U left in stock, as it was when Wii was first sold in that popular boom. But sales are not bad, and I feel it’s selling steadily.”
Iwata has declined to give specific details on Wii U sales or Nintendo’s expected forecasts for the console, but in an interview with Reuters he did state that the company will continue to find new ways to increase Wii U sales in the ever-changing market. Previous expectations for the Wii U sat at 5.5 million Wii U devices sold by the end of March. Whether or not Nintendo will make this prediction remains to be seen, but there are many upcoming titles in the next two months that could push Wii U sales.
