Food for Thought: What if Bowser’s the good guy?

See that face up there? That face is evil! What’s worse is that those overalls are totally out of style! Wait, you thought I meant Bowser was the evil one? Heh… Looks like we’ll be here a while.

Tin Foil Hat Time

Alright, I’ve put a decent amount of thought into this, and thanks to a tip from my buddy Colin, I think I have a decent theory. Hope you enjoy!

Let’s establish the backbone for this theory, and it’s something most of you have already thought of in the past. Bowser catches fairies in bottles, Link uses fairies in bottles to survive. I think we can all agree on this basic premise. This is where I kinda took the idea and ran with it.

Thanks to Colin, I was able to establish a link between the worlds of Mario and Zelda. In The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, you are able to kill goombas and chain chomps, two very iconic Mario villains. There are multiple references in Mario games to The Legend of Zelda, with even a cameo of the green clad hero himself (Super Mario RPG)!

Alright, the worlds are connected. We have that established. Now how do these two fairy bottled characters coincide? Well, take a look at the picture below.

This is where my thought process really took off. Why is Bowser the villain for doing this? If Link can do it, why can’t Bowser? The gut reaction is that Bowser is capturing them against their will, but if you’ve played Wind Waker, you know those fairies aren’t too pleased to be in a bottle. So that got me thinking about what Bowser’s true intention could be.

I’ve always been a fan of the flipped narrative, where the story follows the villain instead of the hero. What if Mario is, in fact, a villain? The base claim for my theory is this: Mario and Luigi aren’t necessarily evil, but moreso… dimwitted. All that pasta must’ve gotten to their heads, and they don’t realize how dangerous it is to have these magical little creatures running around. As anyone who’s seen Labyrinth knows, fairies bite!

Bowser however, is the smart one. He knows what will happen, and he has decided to take it upon himself to capture these fairies and save Mushroom Kingdom from the terror of being overrun by fairies. The only problem was where to put them. Well, the bottles in 3D World are pretty big. Or maybe the characters are just small?

I propose that Mushroom Kingdom is just that. A tiny kingdom about the size of some mushrooms. This explains toads, for example. Little mushroom children. So what Link sees as an ordinary sized bottle, Bowser and Mario see as a pretty good size cage. This whole “shrunken world” deal wouldn’t be a first for Nintendo either. Pikmin takes place on the planet Earth, but on a microscopic scale.

As far as Bowser meaning to save Hyrule, it would explain why he keeps stealing Peach. He obviously sees himself as a good ruler, and wants to show her that. However, his tactics obviously leave something to be desired. I think this recent Smash Brothers picture says it all:

Don’t worry Bowser! Your efforts won’t be in vain!

So, alright. How much off my rocker am I? Let me know how terrible (or amazing) you thought my theory was! I know we’re being a little goofy today, but I just wanted to break from the norm a bit! Hopefully something spoke to you, and at least gave you a smile. Have a great rest of the week!

Post Text: Rosalina can be my kitty any day 😉

Super Mario 3D World

Rosalina is my kitty!

Sure, it sounds creepy, but just look at her! She’s  so adorable in the little kitty feetie pajamas. Honestly, the design for all the cat suits in this game is just brilliant. Hats off to whoever came up with the idea, and hats off to whoever designed them. I love Rosalina’s design the most though, as she stands out the most.

Skylanders: SWAP Force

Skylanders miiverse zorpix I do what I want

Yeah, yeah, I have a Skylanders obsession. Get over it. If I’m spending this much money on a game, I might as well enjoy it! The game had just told me that Skylanders of the Undead element were stronger in the current area. To which I responded the above. By literally shouting it and scaring my room mate. I don’t need a big scary voice coming out of the clouds to tell me how to live my life!

Scribblenauts Unlimited

Mr. Oink scribblenauts Unlimited

I spent some time in the Scribblenauts item creator and ended up with a rocker pig. His name is Mr. Oink. The editor is a bit tricky to use at first, but once you get the hang of it, it’s pretty nice to use. A few things could use some specification, but it’s an overall nice experience. I tried making a Sharknado… It didn’t work as planned. There were shark bits flying around all over it, and it shot out one shark upon spawning. Problem is, you can’t even get close to the thing without it biting you! Maybe I should stick to turning more animals into superstars…

Wrapping up

Well, now you have some insight into how my mind works! Thank you very much for reading this article, and I hope you enjoyed it. If you have any suggestions for next week’s topic, any questions about the content I wrote, or just wanna say hey, feel free to sound off below! If you really feel inclined, you can mosey on over to my TwitterFacebook, or Miiverse account. Please don’t feel offended if I don’t respond to friend requests on the Wii U, as I reserve that for people I actually know in real life. I’ll gladly follow back though!

Have a great week you guys! See you next time 🙂
