HP Chromebook 11 announced – surprisingly good-looking and great price!

The HP Chromebook 11 was quick to turn around after being leaked yesterday. Today, only a day later, Hewlett Packard has announced its latest addition to the Chromebook line. It comes with a smaller screen, good specs, a nice price and… boy is it good-looking!

The 11-inch computer comes with a very sleek and clean look. Like the Chromebook Pixel, the HP Chromebook 11 features a lightbar. This is currently only for looks, but I have suspicions of it becoming some form of notification light in the future. The fact they are implementing this in more devices only makes more sense to me.

The keyboard is also surrounded by a colored accent, which you can choose (blue, green, yellow and red). Or you could choose to be traditional and get an all-black HP Chromebook 11. The HP Chromebook is also breaking through with some nice specs, though. Let’s take a look at them.

HP Chromebook 11 specifications

  • 11.6″ IPS 1366x768p display (300 nit)
  • Exynos 5250 GAIA application processor
  • 2 GB of RAM
  • 16 GB SSD
  • MicroUSB port for CHARGING
  • 2 USB 2.0 ports
  • Up to 6 hours of active use (30 Wh battery)
  • VGA webcam
  • WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, Verizon LTE (optional)

Like with any other Chromebook purchase, you also get your Google goodies. Buying an HP Chromebook 11 will get you 100 GB of free Drive storage for 2 years, a 60-day free trial to Play Music All Access and 12 sessions of GoGo inflight internet.

Overall, HP went all out with this little laptop. It is very unique in its looks, and even its specs. I love that you can charge this computer with a standard microUSB port! This would be the same port most smartphones use. No need to replace your computer’s adapter with expensive and exclusive chargers. Just head to your local store and buy another microUSB charger! Very convenient.

It is also claimed to have a very good battery life, with about 6 hours of active use. Of course, that changes depending on your usage, but it seems we are getting back on track when it comes to battery life.

All of this for the neat and friendly price of $279. Nice, right?! I really want the white/blue version. I would so jump on it if I didn’t already have my handy Chromebook Pixel. But what about you? Are you thinking of buying an HP Chromebook 11? I would say it’s my favorite Chromebook after the Pixel, as of now.
