Google to Offer Students $20/Month Chrome OS Book?

According to Forbes, Google is readying to announce a “student package” that wraps up both hardware and online services for a staggering $20 a month. This announcement could come as early as tomorrow.

Should this rumor hold water, it would almost certainly be tied to some sort of contract; unless there were a separate hardware buy-in, however that immediately conflicts with the wrapping of hardware and online services mentioned earlier.

The implications of such a package deal (of the decade) go well beyond Chrome OS. Just as wireless carriers are increasing their monthly service charges and lowering their data caps. It would almost certainly make all wireless carriers rethink their nickel-dime strategy on the wireless data market.
