Have you been using Google’s newly-announced Hangouts? Previously known as Babel, the instant messaging service unites Google’s communication tools and offers a single solution with all the services’ features. It is also available for all main platforms, and now the Chrome extension is available!
We can definitely see Google’s effort to turn Chrome into a viable platform with extensions that work more like apps. Google Hangouts attaches above your browser and other windows, in the corner of the screen. This makes it seem like it is a completely separate program, not running on Chrome. It will be especially nice for Chromebook users who want to get a desktop-like experience from their web-based laptops.
