Tap, tap. Is this thing on? Ahem. It’s been a while, hasn’t it? Our team has been hard at work on the next iteration of our gaming coverage, which will expand beyond the individual sites we have now. Introducing the GameFans app for Android, which serves curated content from a number of different sources on the web.
We curate the news for you and you and the rest of the community decides what gets featured on the front page of the app. Swiping up on new content gives it a like, while swiping down lets us know you’re not fond of that content. Over time, we’ll tailor our curation to what the community has told us they like seeing in the world of gaming.
The best part of this app is its Early Bird feature, which makes it so only those who see a post within 3 hours of it being posted get to influence the story with swipes. Stories that are more than three hours old will automatically appear in the trending list and you can still vote on them, but if you want to be an early influencer, you’ll have to be fast!
The app is currently only available for Android right now, but an iOS version might be considered further down the line as we tune things. It should be noted that the app is an early beta version and we appreciate any feedback you give us, either in the comments section below or using the feedback form from within the app.
Comments within the app work the same way they do on any of our network sites, so you won’t be missing out on the community you’ve come to love and enjoy. This new direction allows us to focus on all gaming news while building featured content you want to see. For those curious about the current sites, we’ll be switching to GameFans once the web layout is finished. The new website will feature the same curated news content that you see in the app alongside all the comments, but our featured section will have more original content surrounding the world of games, instead of focusing on one single publisher.
