Firmware update increases stability and prepares for big April update

Wii U

A firmware update for the Wii U has been released, bringing the current version number up to 2.1.3 U. The only listed improvement for for this update is “further improvements to overall system stability.” It should be noted however, that this update is in preparation for a much larger update in April that will bring Virtual Console support directly to the Wii U, which will launch with a selection of NES and SNES games.

No exact date has been released for the Virtual Console update aside from a dubious “spring”, but we’ll keep you updated and let you know when it’s ready.
