Last year’s announcement that a new Fatal Frame game would be produced on Wii U led to outcries from Western gamers, urging the developer and Nintendo to consider releasing the game outside of Japan. The first three Fatal Frame games were released in the West, while the fourth was never localized. Fatal Frame V is the title released last year in Japan and according to Tomonobu Itagaki, it has strong chances of being released in the rest of the world.
Itagaki recently took to Facebook to express his thoughts, as he is close friends with Kikuchi Keisuke. While one developers thoughts about his friend are certainly rumor, I wouldn’t be surprised to see this coming to fruition, especially considering it is now Nintendo’s sole job to provide games for its console, as most major publishers have backed out of publishing Wii U games. Here’s the relevant text from the Facebook post:
Hey guys, I strongly believe that Kikuchi Keisuke will release the Fatal Frame V in America, in many countries. He and me have same philosophy from Tecmo days. That’s what I can say for now. I want you guys to read between the lines.
Anyway I will play this game 🙂
While it’s certainly not a confirmation of localization, I’ll take it considering the source.
