One of the biggest limitations for WiiWare during the previous console generation was that file size for titles had to be less than 50MB. In terms of space for games these days, that’s extremely paltry. A fan recently took to Twitter to ask Shin’en how they were enjoying not having such a limitation to Wii U and the response was that their latest game, Fast Racing Neo, will have “hyper real graphics” due to no limitations on space.
@GoldMetalSonic Since FRN we use 4-8k textures. Means hyper real graphics but 16x storage. Happy this is no prob on WiiU eShop 🙂

We’re happy to see developers like Shin’en taking advantage of the fact that the Wii U offers more storage space than the Wii and knowing Shin’en’s development history with Nintendo consoles, it’s likely that Fast Racing Neo will be the spiritual F-Zero game that everyone wants it to be.
