Now that Chris Evans is too busy being Captain America to reprise his role as the Human Torch, a reboot of the Fantastic Four series is headed to theatres this summer. The newest trailer for the movie went live yesterday, giving comic book movie fans the first taste of the story that’ll be told on the silver screen this summer. However, the movie has a clever Nintendo reference in it that made me smile the first time I watched it. Go on, click play on the video above. I’ll wait.
Did you catch it? Check out the part where the Human Torch is driving in his car. There’s a Fire Flower from the Super Mario series hanging from his rearview mirror. It’s just a keychain, but it’s a clever homage to the super power the Human Torch gains in the movie. Just as if he ate a Fire Flower from the Mario series, he’ll be wielding flames like Mario.
