Even Final Fantasy director can’t find a Switch

The Switch is sold out everywhere and it’s really hard to find a system anywhere. Just ask Final Fantasy XV director Hajime Tabata, who, despite being at the top in the gaming business, can’t find a Switch either.

Speaking to Kotaku, Tabata revealed that he’s been trying to buy a Switch for a while but without luck so far.

He’s been checking Amazon and other retailers in Japan, but still hasn’t got a console. Which isn’t surprise, because the demand for the Switch is insane in Japan — every weekend people line up for hours just for a chance to buy one.

And he’s already got the games, just not the console.

“I’ve already purchased all this software,” he said, adding: “I have Zelda, Mario Kart, and Splatoon. I just haven’t been able to purchase the hardware.”

With his status, he could easily ask Nintendo for a console and they’d send him one. But he won’t, because he feels he would “owe them” something.

“Because then I’d owe them, and I’ll have to support Nintendo. I want to have a neutral standing.”

Sounds a bit weird, but the Japanese do have very specific customs when it comes to gifts, so we’ll take his word for it.
