Epic Games “very interested” in Wii U

Wii U Unreal Engine 3
Nintendo had trouble attracting third party support for the Wii, and they seem to have learned from their mistakes, as we’ve already seen plenty of third part support for the Wii U. You can now add Epic Games to that list, as Epic President Mike Capps recently told IndustryGamers,

“We haven’t made an official announcement about that platform. And while we loved the Wii, it just wasn’t a fit to make a game that would go across Xbox 360, PS3 and the Wii. It just wasn’t possible. So going forward, we’re working with those folks and we’re very interested in the Wii U”

Capps went on, saying that the Wii U is capable of running the Unreal Engine 3, and that the engine is a good fit for the platform. Nintendo showcased a bunch of games at E3 running on Wii U, and some of those games were built with the Unreal Engine 3.

The Wii U has already attracted other high level third party developers, particularly those who make game engines. CryTek has announced that CryEngine 3 is coming to the Wii U, and Id Software will be bringing their Id Tech 5 engine to the Wii U as well.
