Earthlock backers will get Switch version if it ever happens

Several years ago I wrote about a new Kickstarter game called Earthlock: Festival of Magic that was targeting release on Wii U. It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything about the game, but a new update to the Kickstarter page gives us some interesting information concerning a Switch version of the game, if it ever happens.

Since the Switch is out, many fans are concerned that Earthlock won’t arrive on Wii U. Snowcastle Games says they’re still working on the Wii U version but they don’t want to give any timeframe since that already backfired once when the game didn’t pass through QA.

I would like to ensure you all that we are still working on the Wii U version. We did the first optimization pass in January and were very hopeful that we would be able to release the game soon after that. However during the Quality Assurance process afterwards, we concluded that it needed more work, and so here we are.

The Wii U version has gone through a full second optimization pass and is now in QA again. We are still working hard on getting it out ASAP, but having missed the estimated date in the last KS update, I’ll just stick to the “as soon as possible.”

The most interesting part of this update however is that Snowcastle Games have decided that should they release a version of the game on Switch, those who backed the Kickstarter for the Wii U version will get both. This is no guarantee that there’s a Switch version in the works, but it’s good to know that if it’s explored in the future, those who helped fund the game will get both versions.
