EA: we’ll support the Switch when it “takes off”

The biggest video game publisher in the world, EA, only has one game announced for the Switch: FIFA. What other games is the publisher working on? Not many, apparently.

EA’s Executive Vice President, Patrick Soderlund, said that they aren’t talking about Switch games beyond FIFA at the moment.

“We are not announcing anything [else] yet, but you can expect us to be there once the platform launches and takes off.”

That doesn’t sound like a lot of support. He’s basically saying, if the console is a success, we’ll support it. But we won’t support it initially to make it a success.

Soderlund did have some nice things to say about the Switch and Nintendo, telling IGN that Nintendo “forces us to think differently” and he also praised Zelda Breath of the Wild.

EA’s FIFA Switch game has been rumored to be based on FIFA for Xbox 360 and PS3, which uses years-old technology.
