Dragon Quest X could see Western release, but not on Wii U

Dragon Quest X Wii U

For those of you interested in the Dragon Quest X MMO recently released in Japan, we’ve got some good news for you. Series producer Yosuke Saito has said that the game could see release in the West, with slight alterations in order to suit markets in North America, Europe and Australia. Saito also said if a Western release were to be viable, each of these specific regions would have its own version of the game, including separate servers.

The bad news is talk of releasing Dragon Quest X in Western markets was almost exclusively chained to a PC release, with absolutely no mention of the Wii U.

”Of course, however, as for whether it’ll be run in the Dragon Quest style in the overseas market, every nation has its own play style and sensibilities, so I don’t think it’ll be a single game worldwide like with Final Fantasy 11.”

The success of the MMO style game in Japan, as well as Western interest in the game are likely the determining factors of whether we’ll see Dragon Quest X hop the ocean. What do you think? If the game were made available on the Wii U in your region, would you play it? You can check out the trailer below to see some gameplay, but of course everything is in Japanese.
