Last month in April, noted developer Renegade Kid took to Kickstarter in order to raise funds for a Wii U title called Cult County. The game was to be an episodic horror game set in Texas, but the game only reached a mere 10% of its massive $580k funding goal. Despite the failed campaign, the developer says they’ll be pushing through with other options. Jools Watsham took to Twitter to let his fans know what the team would be working on:

As part of our healing process after the KS failure, we’re developing a new experimental 2D game for 3DS. It has pixels and stuff. No cults.

Despite that, Watsham has previously stated that he would like to press forward with Cult County even if the Kickstarter failed. According to him, the team is discussing other options to see how the game could be brought to fruition. He also expressed his opinion on Twitter that the budget, despite being high, could only create episode one of the game if it were to be lowered.
