Console sales up 172% in Japan thanks to Nintendo Switch

Famitsu has released their yearly report on the state of video games in Japan, and things are looking good. Thanks to the Nintendo Switch.

The Japanese console market is up 172% compared to last year, and that’s thanks to the Switch, which was the best selling console in the country by far in 2017.

The Switch sold 3.4 million units in Japan last year, compared to 1.9 million units the PS4 sold.

On the games front, things are looking even better for Nintendo: 9 out of 10 best selling games were all published by Nintendo.
