Google’s Chromecast has been a hit in the USA, but so far it hasn’t even made it to other countries. Plans to take the HDMI dongle outside America seem to be on foot right now. It seems the first to get access to the device will be our friends in the UK.

A spokesperson from electronics retailer Currys told The Next Web that the Chromecast was set to be released within weeks. More exactly, the device is said to be available from March 1st, but this is said to be a provisional release date.

More details will be available as we get closer to the release date, but at least we now know the process is moving forward. World-wide availability is a must for a successful device like the Chromecast. It offers great streaming functionality for a very low $35 price, which will be great for emerging markets.

The Google Cast SDK was just released, so you can be sure more content is coming to Chromecast users. If you live in the UK, you should stay tuned to ChromeSpot.com! We will let you know as soon as we know more.
